Bridge City products first appeared at the Lee Valley store in Vancouver, BC a few years ago. I was immediately drawn to their elegant design, but the steep price tags kept me admiring them from afar. Since the company became part of Harvey Industries in China, the pricing has become much more reasonable. I hope it stays that way after the sales period ends.
I finally took the plunge and bought their mini plane, the HP-8. The packaging was as refined as a quality tool deserved, and the plane's adjustment mechanism is top-notch. However, I have to deduct a few points for comfort—after extended use, the edges dug into my palm, leaving it sore, almost as if four posts were pressing into my hand. That said, I’m not sure how they could change the design without sacrificing its form and function.
Despite the comfort issue, I’m giving it five stars and wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again if they release an improved version.
Packaging is overly large and it would have been nice to include the allen wrench for skid adjustment
Love this tool. Doesn't replace a dado but for the one big cut you need to make this is by far the quicker setup. Only wish I bought the KM-2 as well!
Great little square, it's a bit of a convience item but when you need a square in a tight space this is it. I didn't actually know before I bought it there is a steel plate on the bottom held by magnets. Doesn't bother me, and is held on securely
Excellent tool, very well made. It has so many functions, you would spend alot on 7 other tools to replace this. Even as a smaller detail, the packing is much better than other tools.
What can I say? It's gorgeous, built to a very high standard, and feels good in my hand. Something I will use with pride!
I’ve used it twice now, very easy to use with great results even with very narrow chisels (1/8”). I have other honing guides that are ok, this one beats them all hands down.

Well this one is square but that's not why I bought it. There are lots of squares that are square but cost lest money. I bought this one because financially I made it and can afford a good looking square for the shop. I'm happy with the product, it's square and looks good. Not broke yet so let's see what's next.
I purchased a full set of Brige city miter squares and found them to be beautifully made. The finnish is exquisite. I checked there accuracy against my machinist miter squares and found them accurate. A bit expensive but I feel worth it...
As i have barely taken it out of the box and as I'm nearly 80 it should be clear that while at some time I will attempt to put this to good use, I have to say I buy these tools because they look fantastic and well made inspite of the origin of the factory location
This is a well-made sturdy little brace. It's attractive, beautiful even. Its throw is approximately 2 inches so it cannot exert much torque. It is an excellent speeder and handy when you need to drill a few pilot holes. It is a novelty, not suited to heavy work, but handy for lighter work.
